Louis Schou-Hansen is a choreographer and dancer whose practice deals with the body as a disobedient domain of fiction. Their work unfolds in many different contexts and frequently draws on history and counter-history. It explores the negativity of being a subject, and how it remains entangled with nature and contemporary ideas of identity. Since 2024, they have initiated and curated Mind Eater, an annual, parasitic performance festival largely dedicated to emerging artists, together with Runa Borch Skolseg.
Their work has been presented across Europe and North America, including at institutions and festivals such as The ICA, London (UK); Copenhagen Contemporary, Copenhagen (DK); New Art Dealers Alliance, New York (US); Centrale Fies, Dro (IT); Biennale d’art Performatif, Rouyn-Noranda (CA); Dansens Hus, Oslo (NO); Dansehallerne, Copenhagen (DK); Kunstfestspiele Herrenhausen, Hannover (DE); My Wild Flag, Stockholm (SE); and Black Box Teater, Oslo (NO).
In 2026, they received the Norwegian Critics’ Prize for The Court in collaboration with Ingri Fiksdal. In 2020, they were nominated for the same prize together with Harald Beharie.
Since 2016, they have been a recurring performer in Ingri Fiksdal’s work and have also performed in works by Roza Moshtaghi, Rosalind Goldberg, Edhem Jesenkovic, Janne Camilla Lyster, Pedro Gomez Egana, Runa Borch Skolseg, and Ingrun Bjørnsgaard, among others.
